Christmas for the Elderly

Present Delivery

Christmas is a beautiful time of the year for most people, but the elderly often have a difficult time enjoying the season. The York Police Department helps our elderly enjoy the holiday spirit through the Christmas for the Elderly program; a program which was instituted by Sergeant Gary Finley over 25 years ago. It’s a program which allows us to include our elderly in the holiday season.

With the help of the police staff, Santa Clause and the York Chamber Singers, we visit the local nursing homes and hospital to spread the holiday cheer. As we meander up and down the hallways with the York Chamber Singers, singing Christmas carols, Santa surprises each resident with a small gift bag filled with fruit, cookies and other items.

Many thanks to our local businesses, in and around York, they are more than generous through their cash and other donations.
