A Note From the Chair
The Planning Board of the Town of York welcomes you to its website. You will find a comprehensive array of Town Ordinances, Site Plan and Subdivision Regulations, The Town of York Comprehensive Plan and all current chapters of the Town’s Inventory and Analysis. There is an extensive selection of maps describing critical aspects of York’s natural resources, development patterns and growth trends. You also will find the Planning Board’s current Applications Review and Planning meeting schedules and accompanying agendas.
The Board is comprised of five regular members and two alternate members, all who are residents of the Town of York appointed by the Board of Selectmen. The Board’s principal responsibilities are the review of subdivision and site plan applications to assure compliance with the Town’s Land Use Ordinances, Subdivision and Site Plan Regulations and the Comprehensive Plan, and the continuing review and amendment of the Town Land Use Ordinances and Comprehensive Plan.
We encourage you, the public, to use this important resource. We invite and urge you to keep abreast of Planning Board business by attending meetings and by speaking during the Public Input period which is the first item on every Planning Board meeting agenda. Your York Planning Board welcomes your interest, your wisdom and your encouragement. Thank you.
All inquiries or comments regarding active applications before the Planning Board may be made through the Town Planner, not the Planning Board members directly. Members of the Planning Board shall not engage in ex parte communication. Planning Board members shall not engage in communication by mail or email regarding active applications with any party: other Planning Board members, applicant, property owner, developer, neighbor, opponent, supporter, interested citizen, etc., except at Planning Board meetings. In the event that inadvertent communication with Planning Board members regarding an active Application does occur, Planning Board members shall immediately forward such communication to the Town Planner for distribution to the Applicant and all Planning Board members, and it shall be made a part to the public record.
Beginning July 1, 2015 the Planning Department will be holding walk-in hours on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. and on Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to noon. This is a time when you can meet with the Town Planner without an appointment to discuss your project and/or upcoming Planning Board agenda items.
