 Parking Appeals -

A parking appeal must be sent to the parking clerk within 24 hours of issuance of the ticket.  All appeals are reviewed by the overnight Sergeant.  No verbal appeals are accepted.

You may complete the appeal form on-line or at the police station.

Your appeal will be reviewed within ten (10) days from the date we receive the written or electronic appeal.  During this process the penalty will not be assessed.

All information from your ticket must be filled out on the appeal form.  Any appeal missing information will result in an automatic denial and all penalties will apply.

You may only appeal a ticket once.  Once a decision has been made by the Sergeant the decision is final. Upon final decision of the Sergeant, the amount due on the appeal form must be submitted within ten (10) days.

Please keep in mind an expired meter is a valid ticket.

Common reasons which DO NOT support dismissing a citation are:
  • I'm a resident

  • I have a parking permit (NOT valid at Short Sands)

  • I was only a few minutes late.

  • I did not know I could not park there.

  • I think the amount is too high

  • I cannot afford to pay the fine.

  • I have never had a ticket before.

  • I will never do it again.

  • I have spent a lot of money in your stores.

  • I have a parking permit (not valid at Short Sands)

  • Most cities don’t use meters on the week-ends and holidays.
Where can I park with my permitMinimize

Beach Parking Permit is NOT VALID in Short Sands Park (metered area where all shops are).  This lot is privately owned and not Town property.
